Hype Machine

March 3, 2010

If you’re not already into it, you should maybe check out The Hype Machine. Unless you don’t like amazing websites that collect songs being blogged all over the world and then put all the MP3s in one place for you to stream for free so you can hear what the blogosphere likes and then go track down new artists. If you don’t like awesome stuff like that, then stay away from the Hype Machine.

Also, if you hate ridiculously unexpected mashups like Beyonce + The Andy Griffith Theme, then go away, please, because it’s like you don’t know me at all and it hurts me to even look at your face.

Dancing Pedro

January 12, 2010

Pedro Martell is a YouTube user who has caudal regression syndrome, which, in his case, means his spine stopped growing just below the ribcage when he was about 10 months old, leaving him with very small paralyzed legs. Here’s a sort of rambly video where he explains it. Or you can just watch this: the best dancing Beyonce video of all time. OF ALL TIME

Man, this guy is awesome.

Beyonce cover: Mr Little Jeans’ version of “Single Ladies”

September 26, 2009

This is a great cover. Soft, sweet folky voice with syncopated clapping. Sounds a little like Jolie Holland doing the “Jumbo-lee-tay-set-ee-oh-yeah” part of Dancin’ in the Streets. Free fast download here.
Thanks to Elliott for the tip.

If you’re a B-Knowles fan, here are other posts on pageslap about Beyonce.

Update about Beyonce (yaay)

I amended my earlier post.

Baracking all the Single Ladies

January 28, 2009

I like Obama and I like Beyonce. Ergo, I like this.

It’s also the best impression of BHO’s voice I’ve heard. The actor perfectly captured his harsh American R’s, got the right mix of nasal and throaty, and totally nailed the quick, floaty way Obama ends key words (“President”, “ability”, etc). It’s a pretty sharp performance, voice-wise, says I.

Plus, badass man-pony dancing. Can’t go wrong.

Heck, while we’re at it, here’s the original video, which is weirdly compelling, considering how repetitive it is.

Update: A YouTube user named Cubby has created his own take on Miss Bee. You might think I’m posting this because I’m making fun of him, but actually I’m jealous- he’s a much better dancer than I am and I’m really not being modest when I say that.

Obamas’ first dance: At Last, sung by Sasha Fierce

January 21, 2009

This vid combines several things I like: Barack and Michelle Obama, romance, Beyonce, and total mushy swoony sentiment.
