From time to time (read: all the time), I like to assert that I am not a crazy cat lady. I’m not, you guys.
I mean, sure, I have a cat.
Well, two cats. One of whom routinely sleeps in my bed, under the duvet like an adorable little person.
And I mean, sure, my cats have more hairbrushes than I do.
But I don’t have, like, cat kitsch all around the apartment or anything.

My cat kitsch is just in a few normal places, like shelves and on the fridge and stuck to the sides of my speakers and every other item in the apartment.
Totally rational appreciation of cats over here. And it’s a mutual appreciation.

Obviously, there is a lot of shared understanding and admiration in this inter-species relationship. You can tell by their cat expressions.
Anyway, recently a promotion company contacted me and offered to give me some free cat stuff, including cat litter, if I agreed to talk about my feelings for that cat litter on this blog. When promotion companies have your blog on their cat lady list, well, you just have to start coming to terms with the notion that you may be a crazier cat lady than you thought.
Also, I did not even realize that I might be the kind of person who might have feelings about cat litter. Is that even a kind of person?
Let’s delve into this issue, and find out!
Purina makes a few different kinds of Maxx Scoop cat litter. I was exicted to learn that there’s a variety called “Small Spaces”, which, considering the fact that my entire apartment is about the same size as a grand piano, sounds like it’s right up my exceedingly narrow alley. But none of the stores in my neighbourhood seem to be stocking that stuff yet, so I settled for “Multi-Cat” formula. Because I am a person who has multiple cats, and maybe even feelings about those cats’ cat litter. We’ll see.
Cat litter is starting to not sound like a real word any more. Cat litter. Cat litter. Clap glitter.
What do I usually look for in a cat litter, you ask? Well, my cats have an amazing robotic dervish of a litterbox, which was a present from some friends who like me much more than I deserve. The litterbox self-scoops, so it needs cat litter that’s very clumpy. And because it self-scoops, that means I shouldn’t have to clean it very often (right?), so I also want cat litter that doesn’t smell like a kybo after two days. Usually my extremely discerning taste in cat litter sends me right to a big-box store to pick up whatever generic brand is on sale, which I buy by the shipping flat and stack in my hallway (CLASSY).
This week, however, my amazing robotic litterbox has been filled with Purina Maxx Scoop Clumping Litter, Multi-Cat Formula.
You guys, this is totally the cat litter of champions.
It clumps well! It doesn’t stink!
It doesn’t create a depression-era dust-bowl in the apartment!
And it even comes in these sturdy little buckets that you can totally use for, you know, stuff!
(I might fill my buckets with cats, is that wrong?)
So. In conclusion, do I have feelings about this cat litter? You betcha.
Good feelings. Clumping, non-disgusting-smelling, dust-free feelings. Absorbent feelings. Multi-cat feelings.
Feelings… to the Maxx.

I’m a cat lady myself…I have two and already want another one lol
Thanks for a wonderful cat
woooow…… cute. cute. cute.
so funny….
Ha! Loved this–and I’m not a crazy cat lady, either. Not me. Nope. No, no, no, no, nooooooo.
I am a cat person too…Just ask my two spoiled rotten kitties, Jerry and Jinxi!

My wife and myself, are cat and dog aficionados.
Nobody, who has really been introduced to cats by somebody who really knows and loves them like we do, could possibly not grow to loves cats, once they were lucky to be intelligent enough to allow themselves to appreciate such creatures, and really get to know what fantastic individual animals each cat can be. We are sorry for those people who are too inchoate and incapable to reach this lever of human developement.
Photo of your cat on main wordpress page caught my eye. My Mitten Kitten looks very similar to that photo. Wanted to let you know that clumping cat litters made of anything other than pine, wheat or corn can cause problems with all the mucous membranes found on our feline friends. Lungs and eyes can suffer problems due to the dust and the harsh drying action of the clay type materials used. ..and male cats can experience mechanical blockages that can cause serious health issues.
I have worked as a small animal vet tech and have seen first hand the problems from these clay based clumping Litters.
“World’s Best” cat litter is made from ground corn and is amazing as far as odor control and is also biodegradable. Wheat litters are ok if you only have one or two cats… and pine can be too punky smelling or to lumpy on cats feet depending on the brand you choose. Thanks for letting me pass on the info about the clay litters… Nice to see another Cat person out there.. cheers Bev
i have tried the more natural litter in the past and when i tried the corn litter, my cat started eating it – no lie! the wood one caused more dust than clay and the smell is just too horrible. i have considered switching to the crystal sort. do you know anything about the crystal litter and if there are any ill effects?
Awe, the cats are so cute. rar!

(i ended up ordering a cat lady coffee cup instead, those stickers are EXPENSIVE!)
Your cats looks remarkably like my cats, at least in terms of fluff and basic coloring:
Your cats are absolutely adorable!
Cat litter is starting to not sound like a real word any more. Cat litter. Cat litter. Clap glitter.
Hilarious! Say any English phrase enough times (increasingly slow each time) and you’ll probably start aurally hallucinating. For instance, “I concur.” I concur. Icon er. Hike an urn.
I read you most recent post and can share your woes. I have 4 large cats (all 12+ lbs.) and they are all indoors only! I have 1 litter maid auto cat box and have found that the ‘multiple cat’ mix works very well, but i had never seen nor heard of the maxx scoop type!!!! where can I try???? one catch, I must have the 35lbs buckets. any less doesn’t last too long and I recycle them into many different things (which is weird i know but i figured a cat blog about litter was a place i could feel at home :) any ideas on where to buy?
I wish I could do kittys I am deathly allergic though. Great photo of you and the cats! Having an animal pal is the best!
cats-they truly make this world a better place! and yours are just adorable.
My name is Mahlaqa Saeed and I am a crazy cat lady :)

I miss my cat :(
Brilliant post! I have two cats as well and often feel the need to point out that I am no crazy cat lady myself. It comes with the territory if you have more than one spoiled fur ball at home I believe. :) Hope that the cat litter continues doing its great thing for you. Will stop now..talking about cat litter might put me into the “crazy cat lady” category….again… sigh :)
wow, finally i have met an online community of people just like me! i have 7 cats – mr. whiskers, flufferoo, cutesybootsy, slippers, mittens, aquarius (named after his mommy’s star sign!) and wicca. we are so happy together!
great to see people coming together around this topic.
do you have any advice about hairballs?
keep up the great work, and more cat posts please!
xo andrea.
ps. – mr. whiskers thinks mojo is cute!
“It doesn’t create a depression-era dust-bowl in the apartment!”
OMG, I am SO there! And that dust causes EVERYTHING to SMELL like the cat litter!
Nothing wrong with being a crazy cat lady! I have two myself (had 4 at one time…..).
Love your sense of humor! Great blog!
Nicole,
So glad I stumbled onto your blog. It’s nice to know that I’m not the only person writing about my cats, and by the way, I would be honored if a litter company contacted me. Congrats on the achievement.
I’m new to the “blogosphere”, and I thought you might appreciate this quote from Blogging for Dummies, under “How people use blogs”: “But just what are people doing with blogs? They can’t all be talking about their cats! (11)” Obviously, these so-called “experts” have no idea what’s really going on.
Is Juno a Maine Coon or part? Tabitha, my angel/devil of a cat, is part maine coon, and Juno and her bear a striking resemblance.
Keep doing what your doing,
Alex
Hi Juno! I thought I was looking at me in a mirror!!! I’m a lady cat who uses the computer of a cat lady to blog! ;-) Please meet me, my young daughter and all the other Jellicle cats who happily live near Paris, France!

This was enjoyable reading. I read most of the comments also. I have five inside cats and they are each very different.
Your cats are adoreable=) I have a cat too, though he lives at my parents house when I moved to the city. His name is Mofasa, and he’s almost blind on one eye. I better make a blog about him one day too.
I loved this post, thanks!
your Mojo looks very much like my Jenner – but Jenner doesn’t like other cats. Only my dog Aggie.
And the furminator is the best brush ever!
I totally get the “dust bowl” effect. I hate that.
Oh those kittys are such a cuties. I have two spoiled little kittys and I love them so much. I’m a cat person and proud of be one ^._.^ Oh the selfcleaning litter is such a blessing, I need to get one for my cats. Btw I got a tabby one named Yami and a sweet solid white named Ginji.
Thanks for the nice pics and the great article.
Mojo has pretty eyes =)
Cat Butt stickers?
Your cats are adorable! I enjoyed reading your post; very funny :)
We live on acreage and have seven outside cats, all with names, histories, and definite personalities.
In the mornings when I milk the goats, the cats wait at their appointed spots. Xena the Warrior Princess cannot eat with Edward, who picks on her. Cappuccino with the one blind eye gets the orange pottery bowl all to herself. Mozart, the Old One, eats side by side with Spyder, the Young One, after they have both slapped one another.
Mia, the Siamese, used to be able to come in and free feed in the cat bag until we got the dozen chicks huddled in orange box under the incubator. No flimsy screen will keep out a cat who can open the house’s front door.
Jasper likes to eat the milk squirted directly from the goat, but sometimes he gets impatient and nudges the udder with his teeth. This does not go over well at all.
Give your kitties a kiss and a hug. They make the days warmer and fuzzier.
I laughed out loud, at work, while reading this. I LOVE my cat. In fact, I’m worried about someday having kids because there is no way I can love them more than my cat. :) just kidding. kind of. Thanks for your analysis of the cat litter – these things are so important!
Loved your post. You made talking about cat litter very interesting =)
I have one cat and my friends think I’m totally cat crazy and obsessed. I’m glad I’m not the only one out there!
So I found out I knew nothing about cats reading your post. Everytime I read cat litter, I imagined a bag full of cat crap. I was thinking, “Is she really going to let a company send her that stuff?” Lol. Anyways, free stuff. Good for you.
Cats are too cute!
hi hi
LOL I’ve never seen your blog before but I quite enjoyed this post. I might actually go buy that litter for my cat. Keep up the good work :-D
I found your site from the WordPress.com page which has several sites that are strong enough to make the page. Your site is wonderful and beautiful.
Thanks.
